We officially welcome Gil Azevedo, the new Executive Director of Startup Lisboa, HCB’s managing entity. Until recently, Gil Azevedo was Senior Vice President of Emirates NBD Group in the United Arab Emirates, where he was responsible for the Digital, Marketing, Analytics and Customer Service areas of the Emirates Islamic Bank subsidiary, having launched several innovations in the financial sector and led several business transformation projects over more than ten years.

Hub Criativo do Beato has a fundamental role in this new future of Startup Lisboa, which will also have a new home in the Hub, in Fábrica do Pão. The concept defined by Startup Lisboa proposes a very concrete vision for the HCB: to strengthen the city as an international hub for entrepreneurship, acting as a pole of attraction and retention of talent, new projects and scale-ups, to add value to the city and the country. The new Executive Director shares the HCB’s vision of being a space to support the growth of companies and boost this area of the city, as a space designed to foster entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, reinforces the importance of the HCB for the city: “The development of Hub Criativo do Beato plays a key role in making Lisbon the capital of innovation.”

“My vision for Hub Criativo do Beato is based on creating the necessary basis to support the development of high-potential startups from the early stage to the next phases of expansion and accelerated growth, materializing the ambition of the city of Lisbon in creating a Unicorn Factory,” explains Gil Azevedo.

Welcome, Gil!
