The UNICORN Factory Lisboa was presented yesterday at Hub Criativo do Beato by the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, in a public session where he revealed how the Unicorn Factory idea will be structured and implemented.

Unicorn Factory Lisboa is a platform of programs and hubs to support startups and scaleups in the creation of disruptive products and business models and in the development of efficient processes to gain global scale and eventually become Unicorns.

An umbrella brand, which brings together Startup Lisboa and Hub Criativo do Beato, under the Executive Direction of Gil Azevedo, and where he presented its 4 areas of activity during the event:

√  Support to startups in the early stage through Startup Lisboa;

√  Support for scaleups in the growth stage, with the new Scaling Up program to achieve a strong economic impact;

√  Attraction of scaleups and international unicorns to Lisbon with the Soft Landing Program;

√ Development of Network of Hubs and programs.

Paddy Cosgrave, co-founder of Web Summit, closed the event by explaining why Lisbon was the right choice to host the biggest international technology and innovation event and how “Lisbon has been transformed. I hear voices from all over the world and the speed of the change is incredible. This is a moment that I hope is seized in Lisbon. The Web Summit didn’t create the wave, it was already happening”.

A night that brought together, in the Factory Lisbon building, an audience full of ecosystem members and partners and investors already confirmed in UNICORN Factory Lisbon, among which are some of the partners that are part of the Hub Criativo do Beato project, such as such as Claranet, the Super Bock Group (parent company of The Browers Company) and Mota Engil-Renewing, as Program Partners that will contribute to making it “only a myth until you make it true”.
